Social Media Updates: What's New for Your Small Business' Page in 2021

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many small businesses have had to completely change the way they do business by transitioning from in-person to more online business operations. As such, during these uncertain times, maintaining an active online presence is essential for the success of your small business. One excellent way to preserve an active online presence is through the use of social media.

Social media is constantly evolving and many platforms have put out some excellent business-friendly updates within the past year. Check out these two social media updates to consider utilizing for your small business throughout 2021.

Facebook Shops

In May 2020, Facebook rolled out its longtime e-commerce project, Facebook Shops. With more people turning to online shopping than ever before, Facebook announced they wanted to create a simple way for businesses of all kinds to sell products and for consumers to easily interact with these companies.

Facebook Shops are singular online stores that consumers can access on both Facebook and Instagram. Small businesses can choose the products they want to feature and then customize the look and feel of their Facebook Shop with a cover image and accent colors that align with their brand.

Facebook Shops are free and simple to create, and consumers can easily find them on your business' Facebook page. To learn more about Facebook Shop and how to create one for your small business, check out this video on Facebook's Business Website.

Twitter Fleets

In November 2020, Twitter began rolling out Fleets for its mobile users. You can find Fleets at the top of your Twitter's timeline in a row of bubbles. They not only look like Instagram stories, but act like them as well, disappearing after 24 hours. The point of Fleets is to share your fleeting thoughts about your day, business, products/services, or anything else that comes to mind.

Wondering how would Fleets help your small business? Fleets is another great way to take your customers behind the scenes of your small business. You can share day to day operations, share last minute or short-term deals or sales, or give them sneak peeks of new products or services. It also encourages more eyes on your Twitter page, as readers only have a day to look at your Fleets before they disappear.
